家有遲緩兒，照顧過程總是備受艱辛，但在醫療團隊的協助下，慢飛天使也能健康成長。關渡醫院身心科主治醫師藍彣烜表示，早期療育針對的對象是0至6歲有功能受損或遲緩現象的孩子，透過給予照顧者療育建議，幫助了解孩童的需求。學齡前孩童的大腦仍具高度可塑性，在適當刺激下，有望獲得更好的發展。
藍彣烜說，在治療之前，醫療團隊會先評估孩童的發展狀況，並與照顧者共同設定合理的療育目標。從精細動作、社會性溝通、語言發展到認知能力等各個方面，提供日常生活中可行的課程，以家庭與孩童的需求為核心，讓早療在家中同步進行，同時還會安排團體課程、一對一治療，幫助孩童在不同情境下完成操作性任務、與他人互動、情緒表達等，也讓照顧者在療育過程中不孤單。
蔡小姐的孩子，是一名有綜合性發展遲緩的孩童。看媽媽手冊時，她發現自己的孩子未達到同年齡孩童應有的發展能力，感到非常徬徨。經關渡醫院身心科門診的評估後，確定孩子發展遲緩，安排了語言治療、綜合發展評估。
在團隊協助下，蔡小姐和丈夫開始參與親子工作坊、綜合性療育課程，將家庭生活融入療育，形成更強大的支援系統，孩子的奶奶也改變了對孩子發展的看法，不再覺得孩子只是「大雞慢啼」。
