頭份市為恭紀念醫院神經內科醫師盧韻如表示，阿茲海默症是一種漸進性的神經退行性疾病，主要影響患者的記憶、認知能力及日常生活，rTMS屬於非藥物治療，能夠透過電磁線圈產生脈衝磁場，通過頭皮刺激大腦皮層，誘導皮質神經元產生活動。

為恭醫院從2021年引進rTMS，並在精神科及神經內科的運用上累積豐富的經驗。盧韻如進一步說明，根據不同頻率的設定，rTMS 可以促進或抑制神經元的興奮性。高頻（＞5Hz）刺激可增強神經活動，而低頻（＜1Hz）則可能抑制過度興奮的神經元。在阿茲海默症患者中，rTMS 主要針對與記憶和認知相關的腦區，如背外側前額葉、頂下小葉及內側顳葉，透過調節突觸可塑性及神經網絡連結，改善患者的認知功能。

根據研究，在治療過程中，每週進行5次，每次持續75分鐘，治療周期為4週。治療結束後，患者在各項認知測試中普遍表現出顯著改善。具體而言，患者的整體認知能力在簡易智能測驗和蒙特利爾認知評估中也都有提升，顯示出認知功能的提升。此外，患者在短期記憶測試中也表現出了明顯進步，能夠在較短的時間內回憶更多的詞彙，顯示rTMS對記憶的改善作用。影像學檢查結果也支持治療的效果，治療後，MRI顯示大腦萎縮區域未顯著增加，進一步證實了rTMS對大腦結構的保護作用。
