醫師蕭捷健在個人粉專發文表示，根據一項發表在《美國臨床營養學期刊》（American Journal of Clinical Nutrition）的研究，研究人員讓72位健康男性在空腹狀態下，飲用包括純水、咖啡、茶、牛奶等20種飲品，並測量4小時內的尿液排放量。

結果顯示，咖啡的補水指數（Beverage Hydration Index, BHI）與純水幾乎相同。蕭捷健說，這代表適量飲用咖啡並不會讓身體失去更多水分，也打破了「喝咖啡等於流失水分」的迷思。
