「『萬國津梁：東亞海上的琉球』特展國際交流論壇」分為「琉球與東亞世界」、「沖繩島嶼歷史與博物館學」兩個子題，匯集國內外多位學者蒞臨。兩日分別由國立故宮博物院黃永泰、余佩瑾副院長主持。黃永泰副院長於開幕時特別感謝合作的館所，並表示博物館作為一個公開、交流、共享的研究平台，期待透過學術討論帶來「與知識交會的亢奮及震撼」。而故宮也因「萬國津梁：東亞海上的琉球」特展的策展合作與這兩日的國際交流論壇，除了引領觀眾認識沖繩歷史，思考臺灣，促進沖繩與臺灣間的交流對話、學術連結與思考更多合作的可能性。
黃永泰副院長說，兩日的論壇擁有琉球研究的最佳陣容，包含故宮博物院吳密察前院長、日本名櫻大學赤嶺守教授，分別進行「15 世紀東亞海上貿易中的琉球王國」與 「琉球王國外交文書的分類分析」專題講座 ;「萬國津梁：東亞海上的琉球」特展的文物借展單位日本九州國立博物館富田淳館長等，及國內中央研究院的劉序楓、陳國棟及朱德蘭研究員也將一同參與學術發表與座談。
